A multilingual digital recruitment campaign, for the first univeristy WhatsApp chatbot in South Ah

Choosing a university degree is stressful, choosing one from the humanities, even more so. This is due to rapidly decreasing enrolment rates (down 34% at Nelson Mandela University), employability stigmas attached to the social sciences & often limited to no access for many of South Africa’s underprivileged learners to relevant & useful information.

In 2020, why on earth would a parent want their child to study in the humanities? So we built a WhatsApp chatbot to help learners convince them why. And created a multilingual digital recruitment campaign, including the University’s most watched online open day webinar, tailored for the 21st century teenager.
